The area around Marrakech is very flat and mainly scrubland or olive groves

Avenue Mohammed VI. This is a very long and beautiful duel carriageway into the sity with gardens along the middle.

Looking towards the city from Mohammed VI Avenue

When we arrived in Marrakech at the beginning of February it was still winter. Within ten days we were seeing the arrival of wild flowers along the roads.

    1. When they were building the walls, they inserted wooden blocks into the walls so that they could climb on them as the walls got higher. Once the walls were complete, they took them out, leaving the holes. The holes then act to prevent the walls from cracking with the changing temperatures by somehow absorbing some of the expansion and contraction.
